Day 30 - Stratford to Wootton Wawen

Thursday 7th August - 7 miles, 18 locks

Feeding the swans on the Avon at Stratford
Time to leave Stratford we cruised under Clopton bridge onto part of the Avon we hadn't cruised before down to the old bathing place. A few hairy moments turning the boat around well I thought so anyway.

Gongoozlers at Bancroft basin
Next was the lock out of Stratford - lock 1 out of the 55 we've got to do to get back to base. Paul got his own back on all the gongoozlers by taking a photo of them standing on the bridge.

Leaving the basin we had remembered to clear the roof before going under the low bridges.

Met a sweeping party volunteers clearing the canal and towpath who meet monthly - Paul said he'd join them next month.

Stopped at Valley Boat Services for diesel and a pump out then onwards and upwards until we reached Wootton Wawen where we were surprised to find a mooring as we did not arrive until 6.00pm.

Garden of the Navigation looked very inviting so we popped over for a drink before dinner. Watching two horses and their foals - ahh!
