Tuesday 29th July - 13 miles, 3 locks (staffed)

| Ashleworth Tithe Barn |

| Tithe Barn and Church |
Up bright and early to get in Gloucester lock by 8.00am (restrictions due to filming of Jonny Depp film - Through the Looking Glass in August when they are bringing five tall ships into the docks). Cruising pleasantly up river in the sunshine when we decided to stop at Ashleworth Quay and visit the NT tithe barn which is quite impressive - visited church as well there was a visiting band of bell ringers there. Walking back to the river we said "hello again" to a man filling a skip at the back of the pub, he wanted a chat. We heard all about the history of the pub and his family - he owns the pub - and flooding etc etc. I think he was lonely as the pub is currently closed due to a bad tenant and flooding. Eventually got back to the boat, sat out on the pontoon for coffee in brilliant sunshine.
Carried on up the Severn via Upper Lode Lock, got to Avon Lock just in time for lock keeper Bob's lunch. Moored against an Anglo Welsh narrowboat hoping to be in Stratford tomorrow!
Moored against the steps. I went for a wander down the High Street visiting charity shops. Bought some very pretty tins.
Had the evening out went to the Nottingham Arms and then for a very nice curry - spent a while trying to think if we'd been there before two years ago?, came to the conclusion that we probably had.
